Fidan Karimova (@fikari) is an avid ocean supporter and artist. In addition to her day time job in the water industry, working on technology innovation in the water industry, she enjoys creating artwork to support organizations working keeping our oceans clean for future generations. This year she is creating a digital drawing each month and selling them to support SEVENSEAS Media.
Fidan is originally from Azerbaijan, a country located right by the Caspian Sea. She grew up by the sea and learned to appreciate the importance of clean waterways. In travelling to over 60 countries, Fidan has seen how polluted water systems could get and wants to ensure that we do all we can to keep them pristine. She worked with entrepreneurs from around the world and they inspired her to create something of her own. She ended up creating The Water Tracker, a mobile app that measures water use and helps users understand differences in the water consumption of their daily activities and practices.
Starting in 2019 Fidan began drawing an art piece a month in order to donate the proceeds to a nonprofit of her choosing at the end of the year. She chose SEVENSEAS Media as a result of the organization’s passion for keeping the oceans clean and doing so by taking direct actions to protect and restore the marine, polar, and coastal ecosystems. The organization has also quickly become a well-respected international platform elevating the ocean conservation community.
