Description

The Reef Environmental Education Foundation (REEF) is hiring Spring 2027 Marine Education and Conservation Interns at its Key Largo, Florida campus, running 5 January through 22 May 2027, with applications closing 1 September 2026.

REEF is a non-profit marine conservation organization with citizen science, education, and research programs. The REEF Campus hosts the brand new Ocean Exploration Center, an Interpretive Center, and educational trails, serving as an educational hub for visitors and groups and supporting a membership of over 85,000 engaged in REEF’s international programs.

Marine Education and Conservation Interns support REEF’s educational programming and general operations, gaining leadership experience through citizen science, community outreach, and education activities.


Responsibilities

  • Support REEF’s educational programming and general operations from the Key Largo campus.
  • Engage in citizen science, community outreach, and education activities.
  • Develop skills across partnership development, non-profit operations, donor relations, communication, marketing and promotions, data management, event planning, graphic design, and public speaking.
  • Interact with other non-profits and government agencies throughout the Florida Keys and South Florida.

Requirements

  • Passion for ocean conservation.
  • Detail-oriented and organised, thriving on variety and taking initiative.
  • Open to college students with at least two years of coursework, as well as recent graduates.
  • Reliable transportation preferred.

Additional Notes

  • Program dates: 5 January to 22 May 2027; start and end dates are flexible depending on university schedules and other commitments.
  • Typically four interns serve in each session.
  • REEF provides housing and a $400 monthly stipend.
