Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Participate in and disseminate company culture in all areas of operations.
  • Establish and maintain policies and procedures for all vessel operations.
  • Responsible for hiring of all operations staff (Bridge, deck, Engineering)
  • Prepares and develops the itinerary and itinerary logistics.
    • Technical Itinerary
    • Port and operator notifications of schedules
    • Permitting
  • Ensure Compliance with all government agencies.
  • Responsible for development and maintenance of all operations related budgets
  • Coordinate with cross-functional managers to establish timelines for timely completion of both in-season and off-season maintenance and improvement projects.
  • Prepare operation-related reports for the executive management team.
  • Oversee implementation/maintenance of the Alaska Dream Cruises information reporting system.
  • Special projects may be assigned as required by the company’s needs.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and/or 5 years of experience or 10 years of relevant and applicable work experience.
  • Strong understanding of US Coast Guard Sub-chapter T and K.
  • Excellent communication and writing skills with the ability to provide explanations of very complex or technical matters to people with little or no background in the area under discussion.
  • Proficiency in MS Office with expertise in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Ability to interpret and follow rules, policy, and procedures.
  • Ability to maintain composure with courteous and professional demeanor.
  • Must have ability to interface and maintain effective relationships with all departments and employees in a highly diverse environment and be able to execute operational imperatives in a swift and demanding environment.
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills and be able to effectively interact with guests.
  • Must possess and maintain a Merchant Mariner Credential with a Master’s endorsement of at least 100 GRT.
  • Must pass a security background check and DOT drug test.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proven team player and have a Can-Do attitude.
  • Cruise Industry experience.
  • Understanding of hospitality and marketing.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical engineering and propulsion.

Work Environment

  • Ability to work flexible schedule to include weekends and holidays as needed during the summer season.
  • Required to be on call during operational periods for the management of vessel operations.

  • Travel to the vessels in Alaska and extended stay up to 5 months on board is required.
  • Environmental conditions generally include ambient inside temperature, ambient inside lighting, ambient to loud noise levels, all weather conditions, occasional use of required protective clothing including raingear and life preserver.
  • Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to walk on uneven deck surfaces crossing from vessel to vessel.
