DESCRIPTION:Date/Time: Thursday, August 26, 2021 from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM EDT\nFor the past two decades, Dr. David Malmquist has been writing about the Chesapeake Bay on an almost daily basis in his position as News and Media Director at VIMS. An avid outdoor explorer, he has also been traveling the bay region, soaking up its rich heritage, and documenting its flora and fauna. He has now combined the two into the recently published book Chesapeake Bay Explorer’s Guide: Natural History, Plants, and Wildlife, which provides readers with ecological notes about various locations throughout Virginia, history of the bay region and its people, and what the bay may look like in the future. Join us as Dr. Malmquist discusses the making of this book and his years of exploration around the bay.\n\nWith this lecture we are excited to return to McHugh Auditorium at VIMS for in-person After Hours! Dr. Malmquist will be signing books before the lecture, so come early for refreshments and to talk with the author. Books will be available for purchase from the VIMS Gift Shop the night of the lecture.\n\nThis lecture will also be live-streamed via Zoom.
